Ceramics is how I connect to the Earth. Pottery is a very visceral thing; you hold it in your hands a million times, it fits you. In creating this functional art I connect with each person in a special way. Each piece shaped by my hands to fit so perfectly in yours, every piece of pottery as unique as the individual that holds it.
Artist Bio:
My name is Chelsey, and I am the face (and hands) behind this small business. I live and run my small ceramics studio in a rural community in southern Alberta called Standard. I love living here; it is peaceful and calm, and the prairie landscape rules all. The landscape around me so inspires me, and the plants and animals that live here, I often use these things in my work.
I am a self-taught potter with a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture. I also love to paint. In the summer I grow a big huge garden full of vegetables and flowers. My partner Ryan and I strive to live a creative lifestyle, to be in touch with nature and be inspired by the world around us. After all, ART IS LIFE, for what is life without art?
